We put a lot of emphasis on continued and further training. MAPAL was founded by Dr Georg Kress in 1950. Four years later, he purchased a patent for a single-bladed reamer from an Italian inventor.However, the reamer did not work right away. Only the ingenuity and creativity of the MAPAL engineers made a successful implementation possible, thus laying the foundation of ground-breaking developments in the area of bore machining.

Dr Georg Kress' son, Dr Dieter Kress, joined the company in 1969, and during his many years as president of the MAPAL Group, the company grew considerably from a small business with 130 employees to a company group with far more than 5,000 employees and subsidiaries all around the world. 

In 2018, Dr Jochen Kress took over the responsibility for the MAPAL Group. Together with his father and late grandfather he stands for a healthy, continuous development of MAPAL.
