YOUR TASKS:
- Perform in-process, first-piece, final, and receiving inspections of all assigned product lines in accordance with customer requirements, engineering specifications, and MAPAL quality standards.
- Demonstrate comprehensive knowledge of applicable inspection standards, acceptance criteria, and quality requirements for all product families.
- Perform shrink-fit assembly operations in accordance with documented procedures and work instructions.
- Read and interpret engineering drawings, sketches, specifications, and Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T) requirements.
- Follow and execute verbal instructions, written procedures, work instructions, and traveler/router requirements accurately and consistently.
- Utilize precision measuring equipment including, but not limited to, micrometers, calipers, indicators, optical measuring systems, Zoller, Kelch, Walter Helicheck, and other approved inspection equipment.
- Verify cutting tool geometry characteristics including diameter, length, runout, concentricity, radius, profile, core diameter, and other critical dimensions.
- Access and utilize SAP and other business systems to accurately enter inspection results, material dispositions, inventory transactions, and production-related information.
- Record inspection results by completing inspection reports, documenting nonconformances, summarizing rework and scrap activities, and maintaining quality records.
- Collect, compile, and analyze statistical quality data to support process monitoring and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Assist in the development, revision, and validation of inspection methods, inspection plans, and quality documentation.
- Support root cause investigations, corrective actions, and containment activities related to internal and external quality concerns.
- Verify that all inspection and measurement equipment is calibrated, properly maintained, and functioning in accordance with established procedures.
- Identify, segregate, and report nonconforming material in accordance with documented quality procedures.
- Provide quality-related support and guidance to production personnel to ensure process compliance and product conformity.
- Maintain organized, clean, and audit-ready work areas in accordance with MAPAL standards and 5S principles.
- Demonstrate and promote MAPAL values, behaviors, safety expectations, and quality culture in all work activities.
- Participate in departmental training, continuous improvement projects, audits, and cross-functional quality initiatives as assigned.
YOUR PROFILE:
- Positive, "can do" attitude with a commitment to quality, teamwork, continuous improvement, and customer satisfaction.
- Minimum three (3) years of experience, formal education, technical training, apprenticeship, or equivalent on-the-job training in manufacturing, quality inspection, machining, or a related technical field.
- Experience in precision cutting tool manufacturing and inspection is preferred but not required.
- Demonstrated proficiency using precision measuring equipment including micrometers, calipers, indicators, height gauges, optical measuring systems, and other calibrated inspection equipment.
- Strong understanding of geometric principles, dimensional relationships, and measurement techniques.
- Ability to inspect products to specified tolerances and verify compliance with engineering drawings, customer requirements, and MAPAL quality standards.
- Proficient in reading and interpreting engineering drawings, specifications, GD&T, and work instructions.
- Working knowledge of cutting tool geometry, metal cutting principles, and manufacturing processes is preferred.
- Strong Microsoft Office skills, particularly in Excel, Word, and Outlook, with the ability to document inspection results, analyze data, and prepare reports.
- Experience utilizing ERP systems, preferably SAP, for transaction processing and record maintenance.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Detail-oriented with the ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining a high degree of accuracy.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills with the ability to work collaboratively across departments.
- Working knowledge of ISO 9001 quality management requirements and continuous improvement methodologies is preferred.
